If you need an industrial scale, it is important to realize that there are lots of different types of industrial scales that your business could use. You need to know what type of scale you need and what you want the scale to do for your business. Here are four common types of industrial scales.

#1 Weighbridge

A weighbridge is a heavy-duty vehicle scale that is placed on the ground. It is designed to be flush with the road, mounted on a ramp, or placed flush with the floor inside of your warehouse. It is designed to weight trucks, lorries, and other heavy vehicles. It allows you to calculate the total weight of your vehicle with and without the cargo on it. This is important when you are trying to not overload your vehicles and when you need to respect weight limits for vehicles based on federal and state rules.

#2 Forklift Truck Scale

A forklift truck scale is actually attached to the forklift itself. It is bolted onto the carriage of the forklift. It allows you to measure the weight of the load that you are carrying with the forklift.

There is a reader board inside of the cab that allows the forklift driver to see the weight of the load without having to get out and look at the scale on the front of the forklift. Knowing the weight of the load can help a forklift operator keep their load balanced. Knowing the weight of the load can also help the forklift driver observe weight limits for shelving and stacking purposes.

For help with your other pallet weighing needs, consider a 48 Inch NTEP Floor Scale as well.

#3 Bench Scale

A bench scale can be placed on top of a bench or table. It is a smaller scale that is used for weighing smaller items and packaging. The weight can be shown on the scale or on a detached display. A bench scale is great for weight packages and making sure that they have the right amount of products in them. If you do small-scale shipping, a bench scale can be used to get the weight of packages for custom printed labels.

#4 Cargo Scale

A cargo scale is used to measure large amounts of cargo. It is often also called a floor scale, as it is usually placed on the floor for measuring purposes. A cargo or floor scale is very durable and strong. It has a lot of different features that make it very economical for large-scale weightings, such as weighing an entire shipment before you send it out.

Before you go shopping for an industrial scale, you need to know what you want to weight and you need to know where you have space for it. This will help you select the right scale for your business.
